Ferguson spouts McKinder-esque Imperialism as if it was the be-all and end-all of Geopolitical strategies. The Sun Never Set on the British Empire back then. Not so much any more. Their descendants put on a show with the trappings of long gone glory.
Ferguson and friends (the Kagans, Bolton, and the rest) are happy to spend other peoples’ money and childrens’ lives pursuing fantasies straight from the penny novels of their youths.
The UK can neither afford such adventures any more nor do they have the military might/capability. Ukraine tells us a lot about the US as well.
Rubbing “our” noses in what a pittance $73B is compared to GDB just enrages us. The National Interest is in “Their” interest, not ours. In fact, it is diametrically opposed to “ours”.
