So, 80 years ago yesterday, the US and friends landed in Normandy and charged off to do their best to meet the Soviet army when they reached Berlin. The powers that be waited until they were absolutely sure the main German armies had been crushed in the East. Then they launch.
And to this day, the Allied mop-up of the place-holder armies in Europe is a more significant success than the Soviet’s defeat of the much larger German forces in the East.
Where were the battles like Stalingrad or Kerch. They never happened. It was a matter of tying a bow on the Soviets’ victory and “claiming victory”.
The US Way, I guess.
